Thanks for visiting my website.

It is intended to promote my company People & Places, which is really about my interest in genealogy and my research into Littlecote House and its owners.  This research, combined with my experience as a tour guide there, has resulted in my book "Littlecote Lives and Legends - The Story of a Great Estate and its Famous Families".

Littlecote House, by the banks of the River Kennet on the border between Wiltshire and Berkshire, is a beautiful, rambling mansion with many claims to fame, not least that King Henry VIII courted his third wife Jane Seymour there.  A marvellous house with a colourful history, you will find it full of myths, mystery, and even murder!

My book will take you on an intimate tour of the historic house, now owned by Warner Leisure Hotels (http://www.warnerleisurehotels.co.uk/hotels/littlecote-house-hotel/overview/) and give you a unique room-by-room insight into its fascinating secrets.  The book also tells the stories of the families who lived at Littlecote over a period of some 750 years, notably its most famous residents, "Wild" William Darrell and Sir John Popham, Lord Chief Justice of England to Queen Elizabeth I.  Read about the blindfolded midwife, the newborn baby thrown into the fire and the Littlecote curse - just one of the legends forever associated with the house.

So how do you get a copy of the book and what will it cost?  A mere £13 for a glossy, A4-size book with 138 pages, lavishly illustrated in full colour, as they say. If you are at Littlecote House on a Tuesday, you could join one of my historic house tours, and get a signed copy!   Tours cost £3 per head, take place most Tuesdays at 10 am and 1 pm and last for an hour and a quarter. You don't need to be on a Warner break to come along - day visitors are very welcome. Just park in the day visitors' car park and make your way to the Great Hall.  Pay me on the day if you wish; I will make sure the money gets to Warner.  My book is also available in the Littlecote shop.

If you are coming on a tour, be aware that I do take the occasional holiday so please check with me or Littlecote Reception (01488 682509) in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you would like a copy of the book sent to you, it will cost an extra £3 for post and packing (UK).  Send your cheque to me at 40 Tower Road, Peatmoor, Swindon SN5 5BG (don't forget to include your full postal address) or get in touch via the contact page on the website if you would prefer to use PayPal or bank transfer.

I also do tours of Littlecote's famous Roman villa complex - the largest and most complete in Britain (and Warners' best-kept secret!).  The stunning Orpheus mosaic never fails to astound and impress.  Roman tours take place at 11.30 am on Tuesdays and are free.  Meet me in the Great Hall and be prepared for a 10-15 minute walk in the grounds.

If you have any questions, you can get in touch using the Contact page (see left).  I hope you enjoy your visit.
